Why is Sanitation Important?
It is not enough to be skilled in hair styling and makeup techniques to be a professional hair and makeup artist. It is also my responsibility to keep my clients safe during their services. Consistent and effective sanitation practices minimize the risk of spreading infection or disease from contaminated products or from client to client. I would not be doing my job to the best of my ability if I did not take sanitation practices very seriously. Your safety, comfort, and satisfaction with your services are of utmost importance to me.
My Sanitation Practices
For makeup applications:
- Use a new set of deep cleaned brushes on each client
- Use hand sanitizer between each client
- Spray all pressed powder cosmetics with 70% isopropyl alcohol between each client
- Depot all cream/liquid products (cream foundations, lip colors, mascara, gel eyeliner, brow pomade, etc onto a clean palette using disposable applicators
- Wipe down chairs with disinfectant wipes between clients
- Place all trash directly into a trash bin, not on my work surfaces
For hair services:
- Deep clean brushes, combs, and hair clips with soap and water before each wedding
- Remove hair from brushes/combs, then spray with disinfectant spray between clients
- Wipe hot tools (curling/flat irons) with disinfectant wipes between clients
- Wipe down seats and surfaces with disinfectant wipes
I am adamant about my sanitation practices because you deserve a hair and makeup look that you love and you should expect to be safe and comfortable during the process.
