Wedding: Frequently Asked Questions

Wedding planning, while exciting, can also be stressful. I was the first of my friends to get married. I was overwhelmed with questions, had decision paralysis, and I had no idea what I was doing! I don’t want that for you, so allow me to answer your hair and makeup questions.
First, Let’s define some words:

  • Guest of Honor: the person getting married (ie bride, groom)
  • Wedding Party: anyone aside from the Guest(s) of Honor who are getting hair and/or makeup services on the wedding day
  • Look Preview: a hair and/or makeup trial to be done about 4 weeks before your wedding.

Now let’s answer your questions!

Who are you and how long have you been in the beauty industry?

I am Ro French (she/her), and I am a licensed cosmetologist since 2011. I have been doing wedding makeup since 2014 and wedding hair since 2022. I worked at a salon in Springfield Illinois from 2014-2024 providing esthetics and cosmetology services, including wedding hair and makeup. In 2025 I opened my own suite and provide face/body/intimate waxing for all genders, lash lifts, brow laminations, and lash/brow tinting. I also provide on-site or in studio wedding makeup and hair services plus one-on-one hair styling/makeup lessons.

Who are your ideal clients?

People of all genders and complexions are welcome in my chair. It is important to me to be inclusive of all people, especially people of color and the LGBTQIA+ community.

What is your pricing?

For detailed information please see the Pricing page. Pricing on website may differ from pricing in contract. I will honor the pricing agreed upon in the contract sent to you.

Why should I get my hair and makeup done for my wedding day?

Having a hair and makeup artist on your wedding morning allows you to know that you and your wedding party will look and feel your best.

I am an on-site hair and makeup artist, so I will travel to wherever you are getting ready. This eliminates additional travel and allows you and your wedding party to spend time together and enjoy getting ready.

A wedding is a long day! You can be sure that your hair and makeup will last all day and look incredible in your photos, which you will treasure for many years to come.

I am not sure what I want for hair and makeup, what should I do?

For tips on the best ways to search for hair and makeup inspiration pictures on Pinterest, click here to see the Mini Wedding Prep Guide.

A note on inspiration pictures:
Keep in mind that the pictures you find are very likely filtered/photoshopped to make the skin look completely smooth with no expression lines, pores, acne scarring, or texture/breakouts. Be aware that makeup CANNOT make these things disappear. Your skin will still look like skin and that is completely normal! It is unrealistic to think that your skin will be poreless and completely smooth. The people in your pictures don’t look like that either.

Wedding hairstyles that are often featured online require hair extensions and hair padding in order to achieve the level of fullness, length, and structure. Your natural hair density, length, and texture may not give the same results as some inspiration pictures. We will work together to create a version of your inspo photos that is customized to you.

What areas do you serve?

Springfield and central Illinois
Chicago area
STL, Missouri area
If you want to know if I can come to your area, please reach out!

What is your availability and when should I book?

I can accommodate one wedding per date, with a minimum of 3 services (hair and/or makeup) for the Guest(s) of Honor and the Wedding Party.

The earlier you can book, the better because wedding dates can fill up quickly. Please reach out to see if your date is available.

Do you work with additional hair and makeup artists?

Yes! Due to time constraints or number of services, additional hair or makeup artists may be necessary. In these cases, I will contact trusted hair and makeup artists to get their availability for your wedding date.

What are your sanitation practices?

Sanitation is incredibly important to keep everyone safe. I use separate deep cleaned brushes for each client and I use disposable applicators for liquid and cream products. I make sure that I clean the surfaces that I work on and spray pressed powder makeup products with 70% isopropyl alcohol after each client. For more sanitation information, see my blog post!
