Makeup Chat

Be aware that many of the makeup photos on Pinterest can be filtered to smooth skin texture and the look of pores, creating an unrealistically flawless complexion with no expression lines, pores, acne scarring, or texture/breakouts. Makeup can even your skin tone, but it CANNOT make these things disappear. Everyone has pores, texture, discoloration, and fine or deep lines. Your skin will still look like skin, unlike the filtered and edited photos. Besides, the people in those pictures don’t really look like that either!

Makeup can crease or become oily through the day and that is normal! You will be smiling, dancing, talking, and enjoying yourself during the day. Your makeup moves with your facial expressions. Rest assured we will use techniques and products to increase the longevity of your makeup and we will give you a complementary touch-up kit to keep you looking as fresh as possible.

Hair Chat

Haircuts are important even if you are growing your hair for your wedding hairstyle. Split ends can cause hair to appear frayed, especially towards the ends. Split ends can travel up the hair shaft causing brittle hair that is prone to breakage. You should get your hair cut every 8-12 weeks to keep it looking full, shiny, and healthy.

Try not to make any major changes to your hair before your wedding like a drastically different color or length or getting dramatic bangs when you didn’t have them before. You may not feel like yourself in your pictures, especially if you have a signature look that you are used to. I would recommend testing out any hair changes several months before your wedding day. If the color doesn’t feel like you, your hair stylist can begin working on getting it to a place that is similar to where it started. Be careful with dramatic changes in length, it can’t be put back on. If you are sure you want to make changes though, absolutely go for it!

When searching for hair pictures, keep in mind that many of the featured styles utilize hair extensions or hair padding to create more fullness, length, and volume. We may not be able to achieve a similar result without these items.

Searching for Inspiration Pictures

Pinterest is a great resource for finding makeup and hair looks!

For makeup inspiration, type in “wedding makeup” and then use the options given at the top to select your skin tone. To get more specific you can add words like “natural”, “full glam”, “dramatic eyes”, “dewy finish”, “light foundation coverage” and so on.

While searching for wedding hairstyles, try adding descriptions of your hair into the search. For example: fine, medium brown, shoulder length wedding hairstyle. The closer the inspiration picture is to your hair density, texture, and length, the better the visual for you to see how a similar style might look on you.

Remember inspiration pictures are meant to give us a starting point. Your finished look may not be exactly the same as the inspiration picture because your hair and makeup will be customized to your unique look.

Emergency Kit

It is always good to be prepared for the unexpected. Here are some items to pack and keep with you during your wedding day, as you get ready, and throughout the night.

  • Tylenol, tums, Excedrin, personal meds
  • hairspray, bobby pins, comb, brush
  • tweezers, scissors, nail clippers, compact mirror
  • water, high protein snacks (easy to eat on the go)
  • safety pins, sewing kit, tide pen, lint roller
  • menstrual products, Band-Aids, tissues
  • floss picks, toothpaste, toothbrush
  • deodorant, lotion, eye drops, SPF
  • phone charger, power bank
  • double-sided fashion tape
  • crochet hook (if your dress has lots of small buttons)
